India is a land of diversity and harmoniously celebrates and welcomes New Year. The festivities are celebrated with enthusiasm and fervour. GIIS KL beckoned the New Year with a special assembly on 13th April. It was a reflection of the diversity, festivities and celebrations across India. The Assembly put on a colourful display of how five different regions of India celebrate their new year - Vishu in Kerala, Tamil Puttaand in Tamil Nadu, Baisakhi in Punjab, Bihu in Assam and Poila Boishakh in Bengal. The students presented these beautiful celebrations for everyone to enjoy and learn.
The Assembly began with a prayer, a classical song ‘Shriman Narayana’ sung by Anjana of standard XI accompanied on Mridangam by Adithya of standard IX. Students of class 4 and 5 performed to the beautiful melodies of Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Bengal and. The senior students put up an energetic dance number encapsulating the festivities of the day. Such events encourage cultural diversity, holistic learning and development of students.
